Senior Platform Engineer (Data & Distributed Systems) | Full-time

ScoutinScience is building a large-scale scientific intelligence platform powered by big data, distributed systems, and modern AI services. We are looking for an experienced Senior Platform Engineer to help design and build the core platform that powers our data pipelines, APIs, and scalable infrastructure. You will work on a complex microservices architecture handling large volumes of structured and unstructured data, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability across the platform.

What you will work on

Design and build scalable backend services and APIs Develop and maintain data infrastructure for large-scale datasets Build microservices and event-driven systems Design efficient data models and optimize database performance Contribute to platform architecture and infrastructure decisions Ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability of the system

Tech stack

Backend

  • Python (FastAPI, async/await, Pydantic)
  • and/or
  • C# (.NET 8, ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework Core)

Data & Messaging

  • PostgreSQL
  • MongoDB
  • Kafka (aiokafka or Confluent.Kafka)

Infrastructure

  • Microservices architecture
  • REST APIs
  • JWT authentication
  • Object storage (AWS S3 or similar)
  • Container-based deployments

What we are looking for

  • Strong experience building large platforms with significant data processing requirements
  • Experience designing scalable backend systems and data infrastructure
  • Comfortable working across backend, databases, and infrastructure
  • Strong ownership mindset and pragmatic engineering approach
  • Someone who is comfortable working from the office on a regular basis
